Something has got to be done about homeless encampments and open air drug use. Today I drove down a Minneapolis street I don’t normally drive down in the afternoon. And while I was sitting at a red light I literally witnessed a woman preparing her needle to inject into her body. It was similar to how they prepare needles at the doctors office. I continued to watch as she hit the needle several times as if she were trying to make certain that whatever she was about to shoot up was evenly distributed. At this point the needle disappeared as if she had handed it off to someone else to finish the job. This was in broad daylight on one of the busiest streets in town. I wondered how many other passerby’s witnessed this? The other side of the street was fenced off but not this side. It was just sad and disturbing.
