A Good Book and COVID-19

Updated: Oct 10, 2021

With a great majority of us being asked to stay at home and wash our hands vigorously and repeatedly to protect ourselves against the spread of the Coronavirus, many of us find ourselves bored and looking for ways to entertain ourselves to pass the time. We are in desperate need of an outlet to feel a sense of control in our lives, and normal again.

However, unfortunately for some, in today's world of the COVID-19 outbreak, overcoming boredom seems nearly impossible to obtain. We are no longer able to move freely about, for fear that we could spread COVID-19 to our loved ones, neighbors, or a friendly passerby on the street. Our only source of communication is through smartphones, social media, face time. And sometimes that feels like a tease since we can no longer be in physical contact with one another unless we are standing six feet apart.

So, as we struggle to make sense of it all, and attempt to understand this pandemic, it's important to find a positive outlet to unwind, relive tension, stress and worry. One way to overcome boredom is by picking up that book you've been meaning to read but haven't had the time until now.

The awesome thing about reading a good book is that it allows you to find a quiet escape and enter into the world of imagination and wonder. It gives you the opportunity to live inside a writer's world. A world of mystery, fantasy, poetry, love, etc. to escape the surreal life experiences, we're living today.

So, my hope for you in this time of uncertainty, is that you stay safe at home, wash your hands, and grab that good book by your favorite author you've been meaning to read to unwind. I promise you won't regret it.

Different industries adopt contract models that reflect their operational needs and risk environments. In construction and engineering sectors, nec contracts are often highlighted for their collaborative principles and structured processes. Their design promotes early communication when changes or concerns arise. Academic institutions such as The College of Contract Management sometimes review these contracts when discussing contract administration techniques. This helps learners see how agreements guide teamwork across complex projects.

I read the article about finding comfort in a good book while stuck at home during the COVID‑19 lockdown and it really reminded me how reading helped me stay calm when school was online and weird. Back then I even used online English communication exam takers sites to practice chatting and get better at writing while I read every night to feel less bored and alone. It made me think how simple routines can really help us get through hard times.

Reading during lockdown truly highlighted how books offered structure to otherwise unmoored days. The blog captures that quiet rhythm perfectly. It’s fascinating how small routines, like choosing what to read each day, can anchor us, almost like academic editors carefully shaping flow, or how affordable research proposal editing emphasizes timing and clarity in building something coherent.
